Municipal Plan Review Committee Established

Purpose

The City of Miramichi and GMRSC-Planning Services intends the Review to be an open and public process, and as such, has established an Advisory Committee to provide input and recommendations to Planning Services staff throughout the Plan Review. The Committee is intended to serve as an advisory board on the planning process and provide input on the structure and content of the new Plan and enabling By-laws. The Committee will also provide community feedback and serve as ambassadors within the community to actively promote public involvement in the planning process.

Role of the Committee

The Committee’s role is to provide recommendations to GMRSC-Planning Services staff during each stage of the preparation of the new Plan. More specifically, the Committee will:

  • Ensure transparency to the public throughout the review of the Municipal Development Plan, Zoning, and Subdivision By-laws;

  • Review and provide recommendations on the structure and content of the Municipal Development Plan, Zoning, and Subdivision By-laws;

  • Provide feedback on the Plan Review process, including the public engagement strategy;

  • Actively engage in the Plan Review process by attending public consultation events;

  • Consider and provide recommendations on the “themes” to be addressed in the Plan;

  • Review and advise on the principles, goals and objectives of the draft Plan, and;

  • Monitor progress toward achieving the community vision established during the consultation process.
